Description

The chronicles of Borgia.

There was a time when the Church elevated itself above the nobility, and a man named Rodrigo Borgia took advantage of this. When the new nobility was appointed, Rodrigo Borgia, completely unexpectedly over his rivals, became the new chairman and thus the mouthpiece of the ecclesiastical body. Rumors circulated about his attainment of this title. Allegations of threats of treason and promises of wealth and a seat in the inner circle were rife. Rodrigo used this cynical mindset to play people off against each other, thus gaining himself more and more access to the highest ranks. He was soon chosen as Pope, and now, had the power to expand the lands; thus, creating the kingdom of the House of Borgia. Known for his lascivious escapades, this also drew other interested kingdoms to him, seeking a secure partner through negotiations. His children sprouted on every corner of the lands of Galia, and no one knew exactly how many he had actually created. The eldest and beautiful daughter of the House of Borgia was often promised for negotiations to create lasting alliances. However, her husbands often died shortly thereafter, which gave rise to further rumors.

Over time, a secret council developed that opposed the House of Borgia, as their power and ever-expanding lands posed a threat. Before the House of Borgia could gain even more control, they wanted to put an end to it, and disgrace the entire family. There was even debate about exterminating them entirely. Since the conspiring houses were also on the committee of the House of Borgia, they recognized the perfect moment for an attack. While Rodrigo, unsuspecting, was planning another foray to conquer new lands, and had thus deployed the majority of his troops there; troops from other houses gathered by the thousands in a wooded area in front of the castle of the House of Borgia. At nightfall, a battle began that, despite the small number of troops of the House of Borgia, would last for three days. Servants were smuggled out via catacombs and secret exits of the castle with Rodrigo's seven children to ensure the continuation of his bloodline. They fled in all directions of the lands of Galia, most of them to young to understand their situation. Rodrigo was captured and accused of treason against the Alliance and the Church the day after the battle, which led to his execution. His lands and troops were divided among the other houses, and thus the House of Borgia was to become a thing of the past forever.

Many years passed, and Rodrigo's children grew into healthy and strong individuals. Many of them received a letter upon reaching adulthood, which they had taken with them during their escape, or received information about their family history from their supposedly caring parents. Upon receiving this information, each of these children set out to find living siblings and reunite their families. The letters had faded over the years and were only partially legible, so many of them do not know where their siblings are in the lands or how many there are. The hope is that they will find one of their siblings and learn more from their letters, thus completing their family’s history.

Hylja and Stephan were the first siblings to meet, at a tavern in Salias. They quickly became friends and gradually realized that they were very similar. As Hylja was the eldest daughter of the House of Borgia, she knew considerably more about the past than most of her younger siblings. Obsessed with finding the remaining siblings, the two set out together. After several exhausting months of wandering, they decided it would be good to stay in one place in the hope that other siblings were also searching for them. While traveling together through the ancient lands, they decided to settle in Lavedan. Captivated by the vast meadows and magnificent forests, they began to lay their first foundation stone to settle there.
Their ambitions grew, and they began to create a village that would grow into a town, maybe even give rise to a castle. They also wanted to give the House of Borgia a new name. However, they decided that that they would strive to create an honorable one in their era than it had been during their father's lifetime. Everyone should soon hear about the resurrected House of Borgia, and it should spread like wildfire, leading their remaining siblings to them via the new reputation and merchant trade routes. The cryptic words of in the letters of their father still need to be completed in order to understand the true and final words of their father. So, things remain exciting in the Borgia household.
